Hmar militants burn Meitei houses

Jiribam, October 20 2024: After three Meitei houses were burnt down on October 19 morning near Borobekra police station, two other houses were burnt down by suspected Hmar militants inside a rubber farm at Nungkhal village, Jiribam at around 10.30 pm on Saturday.

The two houses burnt down by Hmar militants belonged to L Samarendra of Jiribam Kamargha.

L Samarendra said that all the Meitei houses of Nungkhal were burnt down by Kuki-Hmar militants earlier.

The two houses inside the rubber farm were being occupied by Bengali workers.

Four heavily armed individuals who spoke Hmar dialect came to the rubber farm last night and burnt down the two houses, Samarendra said.
