Second train with 932 passengers expected today

Another Shramik special train with 932 passengers is expected to arrive at Jiribam railway station from Punjab at around 1.30 pm tomorrow.
After performing medical screening and other formalities, 74 buses which are being stationed on Jiri-Tipaimukh Road, in front of Jiribam Higher Secondary School would take the returnees to quarantine centres of their respective districts.
In connection with this, Deputy Commissioner of Jiribam, W Malemnganba Chenglei chaired a meeting today at 11.30 am in his office chamber and discussed on how to deal with the incoming passengers.
The Jiribam DC appealed to all incoming passengers to maintain social distance, wear masks, adhere to WHO guidelines, use hand gloves and dustbins.
He also thanked different civil society organisations and representatives of departments and corporations for extending full support to the district administration in handling the passengers who reached Jiribam from Chennai yesterday and transporting them safely to their respective district quarantine centres.
SP Jiribam, M Mubi Singh and other stakeholders attended the meeting.
It may be mentioned that the Shramik special train departed Sirhind (Punjab) for Jiribam on May 13 .
Meanwhile, the Health Department has taken up necessary measures for carrying out COVID-19 test on all the people who are returning to the State by train.
Chief Secretary Dr J Suresh Babu held a meeting with Health Department officials this afternoon and it decided to take up necessary measures to carry out COVID-19 tests on all the people who came back by train and are currently lodged in quarantine centres.
The meeting further discussed about collecting greater number of samples at both JNIMS and RIMS.
