Imphal, December 12 2008: Announcing the agenda on which the campaign for the MPP candidate Hemam Birsingh would centre around for the by election to the Moirang AC scheduled for December 27, MPP president Dr L Chandramani, in an obvious reference to the Congress candidate, today said that it would be a gross error if the people of Moirang elect an inexperienced man in the by election.

The MPP is locked in a one to one fight with the Congress in the by election.

Addressing the gathering at the flag hoisting ceremony as well as kick starting the campaign of the MPP candidate at Moirang today, Chandramani said that electing a candidate who does not know what politics is all about would be a big loss for the people of Moirang.

Electing an inexperienced candidate at this critical juncture would mean a big loss for Moirang, said the MPP leader.

Going on the offensive, Chandramani said that ever since the Congress led SPF Government came to power Manipur has been turned into a killing field and added that if the Congress Government continues to be in power, the State will be a lost case.

It would serve the interest of the people if the MPP candidate is given the chance to represent them, added Chandramani.

The machinations of the Congress Government to include Bishnupur district in the Outer Constituency by effecting the Delimitation exercise was foiled by the MPP, claimed the MPP leader.

Throwing the ball at the gathering, Chandramani questioned whether it would be politically correct to elect the candidate of a party which tried to sell out the interest of Bishnupur district.

No development work has been taken up in Moirang AC during the tenure of this Government, said Chandramani and added that on the contrary, Thoubal AC and Khangabok AC are shining.

Former Chief Minister and now with the BJP RK Dorendra while addressing the gathering said that the BJP decided to extend support to the MPP in the by election as partners of the NDA and added that the two parties will go together in the forthcoming Parliamentary election.

Taking pot shots at the Government, he said that it has failed on all front and added that a change is the need of the time.

Another former Chief Minister, who recently joined the BJP, W Nipamacha said that the MPP candidate is a NDA candidate and observed that the by election is going to be a literal between the NDA and Chief Minister O Ibobi himself.

Urging the people not be swept by any sympathy wave, Nipamacha said that it would be politically suicidal to elect a politically immature person to represent the people of Moirang AC.

The Congress candidate is the son of late Mairenbam Manindra who recently passed away necessitating the by election.

MPP MLA O Joy said that the by election is the ideal opportunity to bring about a political change and added that it is not the time to vote according to sentiments but to save Manipur.

Asserting that there is no rule of law in the State, O Joy said that this is amply demonstrated by the fact that an MR personnel has been arrested for lobbing a bomb at a petrol pump.

MPP I Ibohalbi and State BJP president Dr H Borbabu also addressed the gathering.
