Covid vaccination programme : Guv seeks cooperation from all

Governor La Ganesan has appealed to all sections of the society to disseminate the message of coming forward voluntarily for Covid-19 vaccination among all people, irrespective of caste, creed and religion.
Speaking at an interaction programme on 'Vaccination of Students in the age group of 15-18 years and Teaching & Non-Teaching Staff' today at City Convention Centre, Imphal, the Governor stated that vaccination is the best way to save valuable lives from the jaws of death due to Covid-19 .
He said that people should not have faith in any baseless, wrong conception regarding Covid-19 .

He lauded the relentless efforts and dedication of doctors, scientists and frontline workers to their duties, stating that they ought to be commended by the whole Nation.
La Ganesan further shared that meetings of religious leaders of all commu- nities had been convened at the Raj Bhavan where the religious leaders had been urged to disseminate messages to the people to come forward for vaccination.
The Governor also expressed his satisfaction over the initiative taken up by the Education and Health Departments to vaccinate students of age group 15-18 yrs.
Director of Education (S) L Nandakumar while giving a detailed report regarding the vaccination drive informed that out of 1,07,701 students in the age group of 15-18yrs in the State, 59.14% had been vaccinated.
Further, he shared that Pherzawl district had recorded 86.71 % vaccination, which is the highest in the State till date.
And 97.58% of teaching & non-teaching staff had been vaccinated, he added.
Commissioner of Education (S) M Joy Singh asserted that the Covid pandemic has been a global issue and as such, people need to be united to combat this pandemic.
Principals and Headmasters from across the State participated in the interaction programme directly and virtually.
