Abujam John died on the way to hospital while Abujam Rishikanta succumbed to his injuries today morning at Raj Medicity.

Following the incident, the people of the area blocked Mayai Lambi at Samurou area and a JAC was also formed to demand justice for the victims.

The JAC has decided not to claim the bodies till the truth about the incident is brought out.

The JAC also demanded the opening of a police outpost at Samurou and to instal CCTV cameras to prevent such incidents in future.

The JAC has set a deadline of 48 hours to the Government to fulfil their demands, failing which they will launch various forms of agitation.

Condemning the incident in the strongest term, Chief Minister N Biren Singh visited the residence of the victims and assured justice to their families.

Speaking to the media, the Chief Minister said the incident is clearly an open attack on BJP workers and an attempt to intimidate the public by use of force.

The whole Nation should condemn such people who do not want peace to prevail in the State and the country.

Agriculture Minister O Lukhoi also condemned the incident and termed it as an act of cowardice.

O Lukhoi added that even if the victims were at fault, they should have been given an opportunity to correct themselves.

Adding that the people of Wangoi are peace loving people, the Minister appealed to everyone to ensure that such incidents are not repeated.

He also expressed faith in the current Government to investigate and punish the perpetrators.

As per information from the families, Abujam John had gone out after having dinner who met Abujam Rishikanta who was returning from his duty and was on his way to buy medicine for his kid.

They were killed when unknowns fired at them while they were talking, said the families of the victims.

BJP Wangoi Mandal has also condemned the incident in a statement issued today.
