Ukhrul, May 31 2021: As suspected Ukhrul town added more to their Covid positive cases, with five returning positive during the random testing exercise taken up today.

According to a report from Ukhrul District Hospital, five persons tested Covid positive during the random public testing held at Ukhrul town today.

Out of 124 persons tested during the random testing, five were found positive (Viewland-2, Phungreitang-3).Random testing was conducted in three different locations of Ukhrul town at Phungreitang, Viewland and Wino Bazar.

Altogether 17 found positive including 5 from random testing at Ukl

Another 11 tested positive after contact tracing was established while another returned positive at a screening centre in Ukhrul.

With five detected during the random testing, 11 from contact tracing and one at a screening centre, Ukhrul altogether logged 17 positive cases today.

With the addition of 17 more positive cases, the number of active cases has gone up to 100 now.

On the other hand 24 persons were discharged after recovery today.

At the moment there are 22 inmates at the isolation wards of Ukhrul District Hospital, 68 in transit Covid Care Centres, two at Jessami isolation centre, three at Tongou community isolation centre, 3 at Shangkai, one at New Canaan, one at Maichon community isolation centre while 10 cases have been referred to other centres.

The random testing began from 11 am and wound up at about 4 pm .
