All quarantined people to be tested

Imphal, May 16 2020:
Taking serious note of the sharp rise of active COVID-19 cases in the State during the last 48 hours, the State Government has decided to further tighten the ongoing lockdown and test all the people put in quarantine centres.
The COVID-19 State Level Consultative Committee held a meeting today and adopted a resolution to this effect.
The meeting presided by the Chief Minister who is also the chairman of the committee reviewed the State's COVID-19 situation as well as evacuation of State natives by train from different parts of the country.
As thousands of stranded Manipuri people would be brought back by special trains till May 21, the meeting resolved to tighten the lockdown.
Farmers, agricultural activities, medical service, electricity and media would be exempted from the lockdown as decided at the meeting.
The meeting also decided to carry out COVID-19 test on all people who have been brought back by train and put in quarantine centres.
Meanwhile sources informed that the State Government has been considering to station dedicated officials at community quarantine centres through the respective DCs so as to ensure that such quarantine centres are managed better.
Even though no fresh pass would be issued to stranded Manipuris who wish to return in private vehicles, people who have already started their journey to the State would be allowed to enter the State.
