'Let 11 AR stay in Tamenglong'

While appreciating the 11 Assam Rifles for giving facilities of Vocational Training Centre (VTC), the Women Development Organization (WDO) Tamenglong today said that "Let 11 Assam Rifles stay in Tamenglong and continue its good service for the underprivileged women of the district" .
She said unlike other commandant, Col PS Chhonkar MS of 11 Assam Rifles has done numbers of good wok under Military Civic Action (MCA) for the people of the district.
The VTC has benefited to many underprivileged women and able to maintain their family.
Under the VTC, training for tailoring, making candles and soaps and making apple and grape juice were imparted to a good number of women, she said and appealed to the 11 AR reopen the training centre which has been kept locked in connection with 13 March 2011 .
It may be worth mentioned here that on March 13 last, 11 AR faced a rude and misbehaviors from the women protesting against arrest of an cadre of the NSCN (IM), George Gonmei.
They had demanded unconditional release of the cadre.
Since then, the relationship between the security force and civilian has been wrecked off.
In the meantime, talking to this reporter, Ariangliu Kamei , a resident of Tamenglong said that when there was no electric supply in her house, the family could be lighted with solar lamps which was provided by the 11 Assam Rifles under its MCA.
She appealed to all concerned authorities to let 11 Assam Rifles stay in Tamenglong and continue to work for most backward district, especially for underprivileged women and needy persons.
