Imphal, July 25 2009: The proscribed People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) has said that Manipur police commandos had shot dead the young pregnant woman and injured five persons including two women while firing indiscriminately in trying to nab a youth on July 23 around 10.30 am at the crowded Khwairamband market.

A press release issued today by Aheiba Angom, Secretary in-charge, Department of Publicity and Propaganda, PREPAK, stated that it was a shocking incident that will remain indelibly etched in the hearts of the people of Manipur forever.

The unfortunate incident happened because of the indiscriminate firing by the police commandos.

This fact cannot be pushed aside, said Aheiba Angom.

It was a drama of valour shown by the commandos in killing unarmed civilians who cannot hit back to please CM Ibobi, who is the head of the law and order, he said.

Aheiba Angom asked, "Who did the bullets that hit the deceased young mother Rabina and the five injured persons belong to ?" .

The Secretary in-charge further stated that without making any effort to find out whose bullets killed the young woman and injured the five civilians, all the Opposition MLAs just supported the statement of the Chief Minister as though his orders ought not to be disobeyed, and tried to project the revolutionary movement in a bad light.

The party would like to ask the Opposition MLAs whose bullet was it that hit Rabina, whose gun fired the bullet and of which gun it was.

Was the bullet fired from the gun alleged to be held by the deceased youth whom the commandos were chasing ? Did the youth open fire at all ? Or was it the bullet fired from the gun of the police commandos ? Why did not the Opposition MLAs make any attempt to find out the truth, Aheiba Angom asked.

Further asking if the people would appreciate the role of the Opposition MLAs who are the representatives of the people even before the report of the post mortem was received, Aheiba Angom queried, don't they know what kind of reaction will come for blaming the insurgents for the incident.

Further asking why the Opposition MLAs had not insisted the government to table the matter in the House to find out whose bullets hit the young woman and the others, Aheiba Angom stated that it is high time the people realised the excesses of the police commandos and the role of the MLAs, and faced the situation together.
