World Day Against Child Labour observed

World Day Against Child Labour was observed widely today under the theme "Let's act on our commitments: End Child Labour!" to raise awareness about the plight of child labourers worldwide, to underscore the importance of a healthy childhood, and combat child labourpractices.
In line with its steadfast commitment to child welfare and their dedication to creating a brighter future for the next generation, the Assam Rifles observed World Day Against Child Labour attended by 137 children and mothers from Aibol Joupi, Kovang, and Sehlon villages in Chandel today.
The event focused on the critical need to safeguard childhood and promote education, said a statement by the Assam Rifles.
Through a motivational lecture, the Assam Rifles educated the villagers on the significance of eradicating child labour and its detrimental effects on children's physical and emotional development.
They emphasized the role of education in breaking the cycle of exploitation, fostering cognitive development, and building a promising future for children.
The event served as a valuable platform for interaction, strengthening community bonds and reinforcing the collective effort towards child welfare.
This initiative not only reflected the Assam Rifles' dedication to the well-being of children but also inspired attendees to pursue paths of empowerment and service to their country.
Assam Rifles actively engages with local communities through various outreach programs aimed at promoting development, fostering trust, and building strong commitments for a brighter future for the children, said the statement.
Highlighting the importance of preventing exploitation of children and the need to stop child labour, New Life Foundation-Manipur observed the day at 10 Child Friendly Facilitation Centres managed by the foundation.
The observation was led by village animators and raised many slogans against child labour.
During the observation, the children raised slogans such as 'Stop Child Labour', 'Don't engage us at hazardous worksites', 'Engaging child as labour is punishable', 'Educate the children, send them to schools', etc.
In line with the observation, campaign against child labour, child marriage and child trafficking was carried out in collaboration with the District Administration Bishnupur as per the directives of the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights.
Life Foundation Manipur general secretary Dr L Pishak Singh informed that the foundation will intensify the above campaigns to promote the welfare of children in the society.
