Interaction programme conducted

An interaction programme on "Nupi Lan and Role of Women" was conducted today at Sagoltongba Awang Leikai Community Hall, Imphal West district.
The programme was organised by Universal Mothers' Organisation (UMO) in collaboration with Meira Paibis of Sagoltongba area.
Speaking on the occasion, UMO president M Sorijini said that UMO will be organising similar programmes and book exhibitions across the State to sensitize the people about the history and legacy left behind by the ancestors.
She recounted the two historic movements waged by women of Manipur against mass exploitation and artificial famine triggered by the British.
"The present generation should remember the courage and spirit shown by the women who valiantly fought against the British forces in the two Nupi Lans of 1904 and 1939", said Sorojini while appealing to the people to follow the footsteps of the brave mothers and fight unitedly for the welfare of the State.
Meira Paibis from different villages of Sagoltongba area attended the programme.
