Imphal, April 11 2023:
A team of Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF) led by MSF Headquarters vice-president Hijam Roshan along with Publicity Secretary, Finance Secretary and Drug Affairs Secretary carried out an inspection visit to check anomalies in the price of textbooks.
During the inspection visit, it was found that the price of textbooks of Class 11 and 12 prescribed by National Council of Education Research and Training, New Delhi were being sold at different price, said a statement by MSF.
Raising serious concern on the matter which is aimed at deceiving the public and students in particular, MSF expressed shock to find that the textbooks and reference books of Higher Secondary level were sold at higher price as compared to the original price by using price stickers.
Citing some examples, MSF informed that Mathematics textbook of Class XI were found to be sold at Rs 250 as compared to the original price of Rs 210, Class 12 Physics Part I at Rs 240 (original price Rs 195); Chemistry Class 12 Part II at Rs 170 (original price Rs 135); Class 12 Maths Part I at Rs 160 (original price Rs 130) and so on.
In view of the above anomalies in textbooks prices, MSF urged all concerned who are involved in such illegal and deceiving activities to contact MSF Headquarters.
Lastly the student body appealed to all to be vigilant of such acts and not to purchase textbooks where new price stickers are put above the original price or the original price have
been erased.
