Outreach programme held

An outreach programme on "Watershed and springshed management" was held today at Laikot Kom village under Lhungtin Block in Kangpokpi as part of the Watershed Yatra Outreach Campaign.
Organised by WDC, Kangpokpi under Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY), Watershed Development Component 2.0, the programme was graced by N Kulkarni, Director, Planning and Chief Executive Officer, State Level Nodal Agency, Integrated Watershed Management Program Manipur; Dr RK Sunita, Chief Executive Officer, State Level Nodal Agency and Th Hemchand, Executive Engineer, RD&PR, Kangpokpi as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr RK Sunita said that the Watershed Yatra Outreach Campaign was kicked off by the RD Union Minister on February 5.Major highlights of the campaign include spreading awareness about planting trees to combat shortage of water as well as conservation of natural water sources.
The campaign will be carried out across eight selected villages in eight districts of the State, she added.
During the programme, the residents of Laikot Kom village took a pledge to conserve the natural water sources of the region.
