State logs four deaths, 303 new cases

Imphal, September 04 2021: Though the daily positivity rate has come down to single digit, it still remains high as daily test capacity and vaccination rate remain slow.

On Saturday, the state reported four new death cases and 303 fresh infections out of 3349 samples tested, registering a positivity rate of 9.05 per cent against Friday's 8.75 per cent.

Bishnupur, Chandel, Imphal West, Kakching, Kamjong, Tamenglong and Ukhrul districts recorded double digit positivity rate with Ukhrul topping at 26.5 per cent and Kakching registering 17.5 per cent.

The four death cases reported on Saturday were from Imphal East (2), Imphal West (l) and Ukhrul (l) district.

The cumulative number of deaths has reached 1796 .

None of the victims had received Covid vaccine and one did not have any co-morbid conditions.

The active caseload rose to 3278 out of which 992 are in home isolation, 1118 in CHICs, 714 in CCCs and 524 in hospitals.

Among the hospitalised patients, 112 are in ICU/HDU wards, 164 are on oxygen support and 35 on ventilator support.

However, there is no report on the number of patients on oxygen and ventilator support from JNIMS, Hand Hospital and LFS Covid Treatment Centre though these facilities have 172, 22 and 18 patients respectively.

At the same time, 13 patients are also on oxygen support in different CCCs.

As of Saturday evening, 508 beds including 92 ICU/HDU beds are available in different hospitals.

There is no updated information on bed vacancy in other facilities but as of Friday evening, 2753 beds were available in different CCCs, and 343 beds (20ICU/HDU) in district hospitals and CHCs.

So far, the state has recorded 85,677 positive cases and 1422 fatalities since the beginning of the second wave of the pandemic, out of which 2136 new cases and 21 fatalities were added in the last seven days alone.

According to official reports, the 303 new positive cases included 296 civilians (137 male & 159 female) and 7 personnel of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) .

Their samples were tested at RIMS (6), JNIMS (40) and other testing centres (257) .

The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (38), Imphal West (125), Thoubal (12), Bishnupur (20), Kakching (14), Ukhrul (27), Churachandpur (26), Chandel (5), Senapati (4), Tamenglong (9), Tengnoupal (1), Jiribam (2), Pherzawl (1), Kamjong (l) and Kangpokpi (11) .

All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.

In the last 24 hours, 288 patients were discharged from home isolation (122), JNIMS (16), CCCs (98) and CHICs (52) .

The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 1,15,077 (general population - 1,10,942 and CAPF personnel - 4,135) .

Number of recovered cases is 1,10,003 (general population - 1,05,909 and CAPF personnel - 4,094) and number 6f active cases is 3,278 (general population - 3,242 and CAPF personnel - 36) .

The recovery rate is 95.59 per cent.

In the last 24 hours, 1066 D-type and 314 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities.

Only 7760 vaccine doses were administered on Saturday and the cumulative number of vaccinated individuals has reached 11,92,491 out of which 3,61,612 have received both doses.

As of Friday, over 91,000 individuals, who had received first doses and are now eligible for second dose, are yet to get the second shot of Covid vaccine.

As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (39,044), Imphal East (25,524), Thoubal (9170), Churachandpur (9711), Kangpokpi (2651), Tamenglong (3169), Bishnupur (8778), Senapati (2095), Ukhrul (2368), Kakching (6230), Chandel (2176), Noney (999), Tengnoupal (1015), Jiribam (1010), Kamjong (720) and Pherzawl (417).Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (596), Imphal East (422), Thoubal (164), Churachandpur (153), Kangpokpi (56), Tamenglong (13), Bishnupur (183), Senapati (8), Ukhrul (29), Kakching (110), Chandel (34), Noney (4), Tengnoupal (13), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (4) and Pherzawl (0) .

Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 37,086 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected popula tlon of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 23,627 CPM.

Test rate has improved to 3,94,825 tests per million population against the national average of 3,78,422 TPM.

Case fatality rate stands at 1.56 per cent.

In the past 24 hours, only 3349 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 9.05 per cent per cent while the cumulative positivity stands at 9.39 per cent.
