In a show of solidarity to boxer Sarita Devi and condemnation of the turn of events at the 17th Asian Games 2014 at Incheon in South Korea, a group of students under the aegis of Manipur Students' Association, Delhi (MSAD) staged a symbolic demonstration in front of the Indian Olympic Association office mi New Delhi today.
Demonstrators demanded an apology from the Indian contingents for having failed to assist her in the time of need.
They also urged the Government of India to immediately institute an official inquiry to investigate the mat ter and take up disciplinary action against those guilty.

The protest demonstration was also demanding appro priate initiatives to defend Sarita from any disciplinary action by AIBA or OCA or any other organisations.
On Thursday, putting an end to the status of the bronze medal won by Sarita Devi, the Olympic Council of Asia re-instated her medal in the 60 kg category after a hearing with India's Asian Games contingent officials in Incheon.
A memorandum highlighting all these points and demands has been submitted to Minister of State (Independent Charge) of the Ministry of Skill Development, Entrepreneurship, Youth Affairs and Sports Sarbananda Sonowal and Indian Olympic Association president N Ramachandran.
According to media reports, Sarita Devi who rejected her Asian Games bronze medal because she disputed her semifinal loss apologized in a letter to the International Boxing Association yesterday.
While the AIBA had not banned her, a day after the medal ceremony Sarita Devi wrote to AIBA president Ching-Kuo Wu tendering "an unconditional apology" for her "emotional outburst," adding "I regret and apologize.
Such an incident will never recur in the future" .
Meanwhile Sarita Devi has arrived at Delhi and would be home bound tomorrow.
