PFA celebrates World Wildlife Day, rescued animals released

As celebrated across the globe, People for Animals (PFA), Manipur and Manipur Forest Department observed World Wildlife Day by releasing ten rescued animals into the wild.
The day was observed under the theme "Wildlife Conservation Finance: Investing in People and Planet" .
Notably, the ten wild animals were previously rescued by PFA Manipur, as per a press release issued by L Biswajeet Meitei, managing trustee, PFA Manipur.
While eight animals were released in suitable areas under the jurisdiction of Central Forest Division, the remaining two were released at Keibul Lamjao National Park.
One of the release efforts under CFD was led by Vikram Nadhe (IFS), DFO, Central Forest Division while at Keibul Lamjao National Park, the initiative was spearheaded by DFO Amit Kaler (IFS).
Two Burmese ferret badger (Nungok), one small Indian civet (Moirang Sathibi), one monocled cobra (Kharou), two Bengal monitor (Hangkok), one flying fox (Mayang Sekpi) and one Assam leaf turtle (Thengu) were released under the jurisdiction of Central Forest Division.
Meanwhile, one wild duck and one checkered keelback (Lilabob) were released in the water bodies of Keibul Lamjao National Park.
The rescued animals were transported to the release sites from the animal shelter at Thoubal with the help of the staff of Dr L Jeeceelee, DFO, Thoubal Forest Division.
Notably, the initiative was taken up under the supervision of Anurag Bajpai (IFS), PCCF & HoFF on the instruction of L Joykumar (IFS), CCF (Wildlife) .
