Imphal, August 01 2021: After witnessing a dip in the daily positivity rate for two consecutive days, the positivity rate picked up on Sunday as the government bulletins reported 10 deaths along with 832 new positive cases out of 5600 samples tested, thus registering a test positivity rate of 14.86 per cent.

Saturday had recorded 15 deaths, 801 new cases and a positivity rate of 12.39 per cent, which is the second lowest rate during July.

So far, May has registered the highest monthly positivity rate at 18.27 per cent after which June registered 10.34 per cent but the rate picked up again in July and registered 15.52 per cent.

The active caseload has been reduced to 10,405 out of which 4480 (43.06 per cent) are in home isolation, 3074 (29.54 per cent) in CHICs, 1816 (17.45 per cent) in CCCs and 1035 (9.95 per cent) are in hospitals.

Among the hospitalised patients, 146 (20.77 per cent) are admitted to ICU/HDU wards, 426 (41.16 per cent) are on oxygen support and 69 (6.67 per cent) are on ventilator support.

On the other hand, 88 (4.85 per cent) are also on oxygen support in different CCCs.

As of Saturday, 63 beds (18 ICU/HDU) are available in government hospitals, 88 beds (27 ICU/HDU) in private hospitals, 8 beds (3ICU/HDU) in LFS Covid Treatment Centre run by MSF, 136 beds (16 ICU/HDU) in district hospitals & CHCs, and 1433 beds in different CCCs.

So far, the state has recorded 69,931 positive cases and 1192 fatalities out of which 6664 new cases and 88 fatalities were added in the last seven days alone.

According to official reports, the 832 new cases included 830 people (400 male & 430 female) from among the general population and two personnel of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF).

Their samples were tested at RIMS (37), JNIMS (33), District Hospitals (585) and other testing centres (177).The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (197), Imphal West (255), Thoubal (63), Bishnupur (120), Kakching (49), Ukhrul (4), Chura-chandpur (69), Chandel (11), Senapati (11), Tamenglong (22), Tengnoupal (3), Jiribam (1), Noney (5) and Kangpokpi (20).All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.

The State Level Covid-19 Deaths Audit Committee reported 10 Covid-19 deaths in the last 24 hours but no age and gender information have been prpvided by the committee.

The district wise fatalities are Imphal West (2), Imphal East (1), Thoubal (31, Bishnupur (1), Kakching (1), Noney (1) and Chandel (1) .

The cumulative number of deaths has reached 1566.Two of the 10 victims had taken the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine and three victims did not have any co-morbid conditions.

In the last 24 hours, 957 patients were discharged from home isolation (503), RIMS (10), JNIMS (13), CCCs (163) and CHICs (268).The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 99,331 (general population - 95,343 and CAPF personnel - 3,988) .

Number of recovered cases is 87,360 (general population - 83,424 and CAPF personnel - 3,936) and number of active cases is 10,405 (general population -10,358 and CAPF personnel - 47).The recovery rate is 87.94 per cent.

In the last 24 hours, 2639 D-type and 322 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities.

On the other hand, the state is witnessing fall in the vaccination rate with the past few days registering less than 20,000 vaccinations per day.

On Saturday, only 13,974 vaccine doses were administered and the cumulative number of vaccinated people has reached 11,07,583.Though there are 2,58,740 eligible people for getting the second dose of Covid-19 vaccine in the state, only 2,12,704 people have received both doses of the vaccine.

As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (33,236), Imphal East (22,244), Thoubal (8342), Churachand-pur (8466), Kangpokpi (2376), Tamenglong (2790), Bishnupur (7327), Senapati (1783), Ukhrul (1749), Kakching (5578), Chandel (1939), Noney (842), Tengnoupal (947), Jiribam (953), Kamjong (563) and Pherzawl (l96).Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (533), Imphal East (372), Thoubal (144), Churachandpur (134), Kangpokpi (50), Tamenglong (12), Bishnupur (147), Senapati (6), Ukhrul (19), Kakching (95), Chandel (30), Noney (3), Tengnoupal (10), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (3) and Pherzawl (0).However, the figure does not match with data released by CMOs and DSOs of some districts.

The state health authority is not willing to provide district-specific case status despite repeated request from media.

Meanwhile, more positive cases cropped up in Hiyanglam Awang Leikai, a hotspot of Covid-19 in Kakching district.

A total of 53 new positive cases were detected out of 266 samples tested from Saturday 2 pm to Sunday 2 pm in Kakching district registering a positivity rate of 19.92 per cent.

One case was detected at Ema Hospital, two at Jivan Hospital and 234 at different government RAT sites.

Out of them, 33 cases are from Hiyanglam Awang Leikai, where numerous positive cases have been cropping up since the past few days.

The cumulative number of infected people has reached 5651 in the district out of which 618 are active cases.

Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 32,011 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 22,701 CPM.

Test rate has improved to 3,52,092 tests per million population against the national average of 3,35,725 TPM.

Case fatality rate stands at 1.58 per cent.

In the past 24 hours, 5600 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 14.86 per cent while the cumulative positivity rate rose to 9.09 per cent.
