Imphal, May 26 2016:
All Tribal Students' Union Manipur
(ATSUM) has expressed strong resentment over the alleged de-
liberate negligence on the part of Education (S) Dept to the
agreement it reached with the students' body regarding exemption
of DIET, BEd and TET as essential qualification for recruitment of
teachers under SSA and RMSA as a one time measure on the con-
dition that selected/recruited teachers have to complete BEd at a
specific period and to allow submission of the application forms at
respective ZEO offices.
In a statement, ATSUM said that it has been relentlessly
pressuring the Govt for establishment of BEd centres in the
hill districts.
The Education Minister, in the presence of the CM and
other Cabinet Ministers, during a meeting with ATSUM lead-
ers on May 16 this year assured to issue a corrigendum in the
recruitment notification.
The Minister also assured that appli-
cation forms for recruitment of teachers would be made
available and submission of the same would be allowed at the
district ZEO offices concerned, ATSUM pointed out.
However, the assurances of the Education Minister have
not materialised till date, it said while urging the Education
Minister to implement his assurance immediately.
ATSUM
will be compelled to urge tribal aspirants to refrain from
applying for the posts.
