Imphal, January 07 2021:
The Ad hoc Committee of the constituent colleges of Dhanamanjuri University held a sit-in protest at DM College of Science premises yesterday demanding absorption of the existing teachers of the constituent colleges.
In a statement today issued by its convenor, Dr L Rajen Singh, the committee said that teachers have been demanding the DM authority to absorb the existing teachers of the constituent colleges before any process for fresh recruitment of teachers.
Denouncing the failure of the DM authority to fulfill this demand, the teachers had boycotted online and offline classes since January 5.Well before and after the creation of the DM University in April 2018, the existing teachers have been rendering services and shouldering the responsibilities of a university teacher.
The genuine demand of the existing teachers of the constituent colleges should be met and they should be absorbed first before making any fresh recruitment, the committee said.
Appealing the DM authority to honour their demand, the committee said that the teachers would launch intense democratic form of agitation beside the sit-in protest and class boycott if the authority remains adamant.
Sit-in protests will be held at DM College of Commerce on January 9 and at DM College of Arts on January 11, added the committee.
