Thoubal, November 28 2022: District Health Society Thoubal today observed Global Iodine Deficiency Disorder (IDD) Prevention Day 2022 at Primary Health Centre Nongpok Sekmai under the theme, "Thyroid & Communication".

It was attended by Chief Medical Officer Thoubal, Dr Y Nokul; PHC Nongpok Sekmai, Medical Officer in-charge, Dr O Devdas Singh and CMO Office, District Program Manager, Ch Basanta Singh as presidium members.

Speaking on the occasion, Ch Basanta Singh stressed on the importance of Iodine and urged to buy only Iodised Salt from shops.

He also appealed to the public to support the ASHAs in carrying out house-to-house testing for Iodine in edible salts.

Dr Y Nokul also spoke on Iodine deficiency diseases.

As part of the programme, ASHAs demonstrated Iodine testing to the participants.
