Jiribam, October 28 2026:
Students of Jiribam Higher Secondary School in coordination with four student organisations locked the school indefinitely urging the Government to fulfil their demand to revoke the transfer order of the lone Computer Science teacher of the school or appoint a replacement.
It may be mentioned that the students locked the Administrative Block of the school on October 14, 2026 protesting the transfer of the teacher from the school without a replacement.
However, the Government has failed to address the demand raised by the students and no positive measures have been taken up yet.
Speaking in connection with the student's protest, Kangleipak Students Association (KSA) president Khonthoujam Somorjit expressed discontentment over the transfer of teachers from the school amid the issues faced by the students due to shortage of teachers in the school.
Therefore, the step to lock the school indefinitely has been taken up, he said.
He also cautioned to intensify their protest by locking the Education Sector office in Jiribam if the Government fails to fulfil the demand at the earliest.
