Imphal, October 25 2024:
In a significant event held yesterday, the Mantripukhri land patta was officially handed over to the Shree Shree Bijoy Govinda Sevayet Committee, Sagolband by MLA RK Imo Singh.
According to a release issued by the office of the MLA 11-Sagolband AC, the land patta was handed over in the esteemed presence of RK Rashmani Singh, patriarch of the clan, and Kangjam Radhakumar Singh, retired IAS officer.
During the ceremony, RK Imo Singh expressed his heartfelt gratitude to all individuals, including the Chief Minister and Government officials, for their support in making this achievement possible.
He highlighted the site's historical and spiritual importance, as it is believed to be a sacred pond dug by Ibudhou Nongpok Leirikhomba (Anantasai), the forefather of the Mantrimayum Sagei.
The location has long been an ancient place of worship for Shree Shree Bijoy Govinda, particularly marked by the Pukhri Hongba ritual at the end of the Yaoshang Festival each year, dating back to the reign of the Manipur Maharajas.
The MLA asserted that this development would further enhance the historical and spiritual significance of the site.
He emphasized that further development will take place at the sacred site which will not only make people more aware of the historical significance of the place but also ensure that future generations understand its importance, with a potential positive impact on the tourism sector.
Additionally, RK Imo Singh acknowledged the generosity of the Shree Shree Bijoy Govinda Sevayet Committee for allowing a portion of the pond within the temple premises to be used for the construction of a new water reservoir under the AMRUT 2.0 scheme.
"This initiative will prove immensely beneficial in addressing water scarcity issues in the constituency in the coming days", he added.
