Imphal, September 23 2026: The Court of Special Judge, POCSO, Imphal West today remanded a 20-year-old man, Bogimayum Ibrahim to judicial custody on the charges of kidnapping and sexually assaulting a minor girl on September 16 .

Accused Bogimayum Ibrahim, son of Md Abdus Salam of Irong Mayai Leikai, was produced before the Court by a team of Wangoi police after completion of his police custody period.

The police sought his judicial custody remand for further investigation.

According to the Special Public Prosecutor (SPP) appearing for the State, the father of the minor victim lodged a complaint on September 18 alleging that his daughter was kidnapped by Ibrahim and his associates from Yumnam Huidrom with the intention of marrying her, against her will.

The victim was rescued on September 17 and allegedly told the police that she had been sexually assaulted by Ibrahim.

During investigation, Ibrahim was arrested and, during interrogation, allegedly admitted to the charges and disclosed details of the incident, the SPP submitted.

According to the prosecution, Ibrahim returned home from Bengaluru on September 14 and went to the victim's locality around midnight on September 15 but could not find her.

On the morning of September 16, he allegedly went to Yumnam Huidrom along with three friends in an i10 car brought by one of the co-accused persons and waited for the victim.

At around 2 pm, Ibrahim allegedly saw the victim accompanied by one of her friends in Yumnam Huidrom area.

The accused and his associates allegedly approached the victim, following which one of them pulled her into the car.

Ibrahim allegedly also pulled the victim into the vehicle without her consent.

The victim's friend raised an alarm after witnessing the incident, but the accused and his associates allegedly left the area and proceeded towards Lilong.

The prosecution further submitted that the victim initially refused to perform Nikah but later allegedly agreed and the marriage was performed that night.

The prosecution alleged that Ibrahim subsequently had sexual intercourse with the minor at Lilong Athoukhong.

Police have seized the i10 car allegedly used in the commission of the offence and efforts are underway to arrest the other co-accused persons, who are absconding.

The SPP submitted that the investigation so far indicated that the prime accused had allegedly planned to kidnap the minor after she ignored him and sought the help of his associates in abducting her and keeping her concealed at Lilong Athoukhong, where she was allegedly sexually assaulted.

Seeking judicial custody of the accused, the SPP submitted that his remand was necessary for the smooth progress of the investigation and for securing the arrest of the remaining co-accused persons.

After hearing the submissions and perusing the case record, the Court remanded Ibrahim to judicial custody till October 7 for further investigation of the case.
