Thoubal, November 19 2024: A statue in honour of Akoijam Jugindro alias Salaicha Kokngam, founder chairman of Salaicha Kanba Lup (SKL) was unveiled at his burial site at Salaai Eco-Tourism Park, Ukhongshang Mamang Ching under Thoubal district.

The unveiling ceremony was attended by L Gopal, chairman of SKL, Sapamcha Jadumani, president of Federation of Haomi, Yumlembam Meiraba, general secretary of UFO, Sapam Shyamjai, advisor of SKL and Maibam Nobo a senior citizen as presidium members.

The statue was unveiled by SKL chairman, L Gopal and a guard of honour was offered by members of Salaicha Youth League (SAYOL).

A two minute silence was also observed for the departed soul to rest in peace in heavenly abode.

Notably, SKL was founded by Salaicha Kokngam in 2018 and he played important roles in unifying the clans by working in various parts of India, Myanmar and Bangladesh under the motto "Punda Punsi, Ngamdaba Leiroi".

He died in the year 2023 due to an illness.

A book titled "Sidayaai-Naadayaai" compiled from various quotations collected from the Facebook handle of Kokngam was also released at the event.
