Media delegation set for Kerala tour to explore Govt initiatives

Imphal, February 19 2026: A preparatory meeting was convened on Thursday at the Press Information Bureau (PIB) Imphal office ahead of a Manipur media delegation's press tour to Kerala, scheduled from February 22 to 27 .

The briefing session was chaired by Dr Engam Pame, Director, PIB Imphal, prior to the team's departure.

Addressing the gathering, Dr Pame highlighted the key objectives of the tour and underscored the importance of responsible, accurate, and development-focused journalism.

He stated the tour would be an enlightening experience, providing insights into the functioning of key Government institutions while fostering strong professional relationships.

He mentioned that the primary objective of the tour is to give media professionals first-hand knowledge of central government initiatives and flagship programmes, including Smart City projects, major infrastructure developments, and research establishments.

Dr Pame further explained that the tour would create a platform for media personnel to interact directly with officials, scientists, and beneficiaries.

This interaction would help them better understand both the operational challenges and achievements of various government projects, he added.

As per a release issued by PIB Imphal, the 12-member delegation comprises ten journalists representing both valley and hill districts of Manipur, drawn from print and electronic media.

The participating organisations include The Sangai Express, Poknapham, ISTV, Impact TV, NE news, Hueiyen Lanpao, Sanaleibak, India Today NE, Gaanphiu Mail, Akashvani Imphal, and Cham.

The press tour is being organised by PIB Imphal in collaboration with PIB Kochi and PIB Thiruvananthapuram under the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India.

Moirangthem Rustum, Assistant Director, Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Field Office Chandel, is coordinating the tour and accompanying the delegation as the Conducting Officer.

He is joined by Thokchom Rabichandra, Information Assistant, PIB Imphal.
