Dikho inaugurates 40th General Conference of Maram Students' Union

Senapati, January 13 2019: Maram Students' Union (Maralui Karalimie Swijoikang (MKS)) celebrated its 58th foundation day and held the 40th General conference yesterday.

Losii Dikho, Minister PHED, Stationery & Printing, Manipur inaugurated the auspicious event of the Maram Students' Union in the presence of Awangbow Newmai ML A and President of NPF Manipur Unit, Ngajokpa Francis former Minister, KRaina former Dy Speaker Manipur Legislative Assembly, ADC members, Maram Students' Union executives, special dignitaries and delegates numbering more than 1600 .

At the inaugural fuction, PHED Minister expressed his happiness in witnessing the presence of large crowd of varying age.

He expressed that such Conference is the best platform to learn something from experienced young and old individuals and especially from resource persons who have in-depth knowledge in different field.

He also acknowledged the rapid development witnessing in Maram area including progress in cleanliness and individuals achievement.

Stating that very few entrepreneurs came from Maram, Mao and Poumai area, he encouraged all to develop entrepreneurship skill which has different area of avenues.

He opined that people should always attach to their roots of humble beginning and achieve success through dedication, commitment and learning to bring development in the society.

He also expressed his belief that when someone does good in life it benifits the society as well.

During the conference, he assured all to begin work on the water supply issue for Katomei village and extension work of MKS office.

Livingstone, president MKS shared his gratefulness to the visionary students leaders who have worked hard to secure Maram Students' Union through collective voice and conscience.

MLA Awangbow stressed on the importance of electing the right candidate to bring development and welfare to the society.

He appealed the audience to exercise their voting rights judiciously.

Regarding the Citizenship Amendment Bill, he expressed that the NPF is against the Bill since it would hamper the progress and development of Naga community in long run.

Former Dy Speaker Raina expressed concerns about the Maram cultural identity and limited land resources.

He appealed the youths to learn the language/dialect as well as various folk songs to preserve the culture and legacy of Maram community.

Former Minister Francis called for recognition of one's identity through achievements and bring development in the community.

On the second day (today), the cultural programme was inaugurated by Additional Secretary, Government of Manipur.

He said that success and achievements come with determination and God's blessing.
