Investiture ceremony of new Khullakpa of Longa Koireng village held

Kangpokpi, May 10 2024: The investiture ceremony of SR Choungam Koireng, s/o late SR Sokhel Koireng as Khullakpa (Kullak in Koireng dialect) of Longa Koireng village, Kangchup Geljang Sub-division in Kangpokpi was held today with Koireng tribe's customs and traditions.

A press release by Longa Koireng Village Authority secretary said that the ceremony was administered by Samson Panmei, Pastor of Longa Koireng Baptist Church.

Eminent personalities such as Md Hefajuddin, MCS, Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) Kangchup Geljang/Bungte Chiru graced the occasion as special guests accompanied by Khullakpa and Luklakpa of various villages belonging to Koireng tribe.

The investiture ceremony commenced with the erection of a monolith at Lamkir (village entry) followed by a formal ceremony at the residence of the newly designated Khullakpa.

Vibrant performances of folk songs, dances, war chants etc were presented during the ceremony.

It is worth noting that SR Choungam Koireng is the 10th Khullakpa of the village, who is a retired Senior Arts Graduate teacher of Education (S) Department, Government of Manipur.
