7th Manipur WAQF Board formed

The 7th Manipur WAQF Board was formed today and the former MLA of Lilong A/C Md Abdul Nasir has been elected unanimously by the members as the chairperson of the Board.
The 7th WAQF Board was formed in a meeting convened at the office of the secretary of Minority Affairs Department, Government of Manipur.
Later in the evening, the newly elected chairperson Md Abdul Nasir while addressing media persons during a press meet held at his official residence at Babupara said that he will work earnestly for the upliftment of the minorities in the State by working in coordination with the members and officials of the Board.
He continued that he met with Chief Minister N Biren who is also in charge of Minority Affairs and the Chief Minister assured that he will take up all possible developmental projects and schemes for the welfare of the minority communities.
He further stated that he will try to take additional schemes from the Ministries concerned of the Central Government.
It may be mentioned that WAQF Boards in States and Union Territories are formed as a statutory body under the WAQF Act and Central WAQF Council.
