Herbert School celebrates Silver Jubilee

Herbert School, Changangei celebrated its Silver Jubilee on Thursday to commemorate 25 years of academic excellence.
From its humble beginnings in 1999, Herbert School, formerly known as Harvard School has evolved into a renowned Senior Secondary School, earning a reputation for providing top-notch education.
The school was established in the year 1999 at Sagolband Bijoy Govinda by the Herbert Educational Foundation, Manipur with a vision to achieve academic excellence by imparting quality Education at the +2 level and to inculcate spiritual richness, transparency in thought and action through value based education.
The grand celebration held at the premises of the school was graced by Chief Minister, Nongthombam Biren Singh as chief guest; Th Basantakumar Singh, Minister of Education and Law & Legislative Affairs as guest of honour and Dr K Nabachandra Singh, principal of the school as president.
Patsoi AC MLA, Sapam Kunjakeshor Singh and Moirang AC MLA, Thongam Shanti were also present as special guests.
The Silver Jubilee celebration began with the lighting of a ceremonial lamp by the dignitaries.
It was followed by the School anthem presented by the students.
A souvenir reflecting its history, events and fond memories in Sie journey of the school was also released by the Chief Minister.
Speaking on the occasion, N Biren Singh appreciated the quality education rendered by the school in the State.
Highlighting the newly introduced Coaching scheme by the State Government for NEET & JEE aspirants, the CM said that the scheme is not only for Government school students and 40% of total seats are reserved for private school students.
He also expressed the need for reformation in the school curriculum incorporating more areas on the culture, history & geography of the State.
"This will enable our youths to inculcate the sense of integrity and oneness", he added.
Dr K Nabachandra Singh gave a brief summary of the school's history from its humble beginning at a rented building to its present status.
He also expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the CM, Education Minister and MLAs for being present on this auspicious occasion of the school and making the celebration a grand success.
During the event, 21 students of the school who cracked NEET(UG) as freshers and selected as State Government nominees and 6 students who cracked JEE Advanced as freshers were honoured with cash awards of Rs 5000 each.
Position holders and subject toppers in the Higher Secondary Examination 2024 conducted by COHSEM were also felicitated.
The Alumni of the school who are now occupying different prominent and respectable positions in State Government and Central Government Departments were also honoured with "Lengyan Phi" .
