Workshop on "Zero Waste: Composting, recycling and alternative to single use plastics" begins

A 2-day workshop cum DIY project of school students on "Zero Waste: Composting, Recycling and Alternative to Single Use Plastics" began today at Sanatombi High School in Keirak, Kakching district.
The workshop was organised by Manipur Pollution Control Board in collaboration with Path Finders Manipur.
The inaugural function was graced by dignitaries, including Manipur Pollution Control Board, Secretary, Dr W Roshan; Manipur Pollution Control Board, Informatics Officer, Laishram Homenjoy and Eco Network Manipur president, Laishram Sintha.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr W Roshan said, "Human activities exert adverse effects on the environment by polluting the air we breathe, the water we drink and can even cause climatic changes".
He continued that environmental sustainability to preserve the planet for future generations is a pressing global issue that demands immediate attention and sincere efforts from all.
Dr W Roshan also shared that the workshop was organised to educate young students about the adverse effects of pollution and encourage them to adopt sustainable practices to protect the environment.
Later, the participants planted tree saplings inside the School campus.
Moreover, a workshop on "Zero Waste: Composting, Recycling and Alternative to Single Use Plastics" was also held at Keirak Makha Leikai Community Hall today.
During the event, women folk of the area were educated on waste segregation, management and making of organic fertilizers.
