Workshop / production of 'Gouranga Lila' concludes

The 30-days workshop cum production of "Gouranga Lila" organised by Academy of Indigenous Music (AIM), a performing center for Manipuri arts & culture concluded at PYC Community Hall in Bamon Kampu, Imphal East on Monday.
The workshop cum production was conducted under the aegis of Cultural Function and Production Grant (CFPG) Scheme, Ministry of Culture, Government of India.
The valedictory function was attended by JN Manipur Dance Academy (JNMDA), Imphal, Director,, Bilash Pukhrambam; JNMDA, senior visiting guru & State awardee Khoisnam Kriti Singh and JNMDA, Sankirtana Department, retired senior pung guru & State awardee Nameirakpam Thambalngou Singh as presidium members.
The programme began with the lighting of candles by the dignitaries followed by a welcome address delivered by Shyamchand Irengbam, secretary AIM.
Addressing the gathering, Bilash Pukhrambam stressed on the need to preserve & promote the traditional art forms of Manipur including Nat Sankirtana, which has been recognised as one of the intangible cultural heritage by UNESCO.
Highlighting the importance of making the younger generations aware of the Manipuri Sankirtana, he asserted that the aspects of decorum, respect & meaningful lessons embedded would serve as guidance for the young artists and help in preserving the performing art form.
The closing programme also saw 'Gouranga Lila' performance by artists who participated in the workshop.
