Churachandpur, March 03 2023: The State Bank of India donated a Bolero pick-up truck to the Community Development Society (CDS) today in their bid to help the NGO better serve the community.

Expressing gratitude to SBI for the donation, CDS president Lianzamung Tonsing exuded confidence that the 1.7 ton pick-up truck will go a long way in helping them as they attempt to bridge the gap between farmers from interior villagers and the potential buyers in town.

It may be noted that CDS has for the past several years encouraged interior farmers to take up horticulture instead of jhum cultivation with assurance that they will buy their products from their farm itself.

As they seek to minimize the transportation and market worries, the NGO has shipped the products in bulk and sold them in the market while those fruits that can be processed are processed and marketed under Zo Foods.

It is also engaged in collecting garbage over a sizable area of Churachandpur town in partnership with the local administration.

The NGO also runs an online exam centre, 'CDS Infotech' that caters to the employment seeking youths both from within and outside Churachandpur.
