Irabot memorial month celebration begins

Imphal, September 01 2024: The 128th Lamyanba Irabot Ningsing Thabum (month-long memorial observation of Lamyanba Irabot) jointly organised by Socialist Students' Union of Manipur (SSUM) and Leimaram Yaipha Lamjing Lup began today at Leimaram Shanti Bazar.

The inaugural function was attended by SSUM president Soraisam Yaima, political activist Sapamcha Kangleipal and people from surrounding areas of Leimaram.

The function began with the offering of floral tributes and homage to the bust of Lamyanba Irabot erected at Leimaram Shanti Bazar.

Speaking on the occasion, Sapamcha Kangleipal elaborated on the need for the present generation to acknowledge the vision and immense contributions of Lamyanba Irabot to the Manipuri society, and follow his footsteps in order to build an egalitarian and progressive society.

S Yaima said that the memorial observation was organised with the aim to instill the principles of Lamyanba Irabot, a remark able leader who strove selflessly for the upliftment of the working class and the needy among the masses especially the youths.

He also asserted that as part of the month-long observation, SSUM will be taking up various activities for the betterment of displaced students taking shelter in relief camps set up across the State.
