Dimki session resolves to ban Alpha-Geo survey

The Dimki session (assembly) of Zeliangrong Students' Union, Manipur (ZSUM) held at Tousem sub-divisional headquarters from March 15 to 16 resolved to ban the seismic survey being conducted by Alpha Geo (India) Pvt Limited in the Zeliangrong area.
The session also deliberated on various developmental and social issues raised by local community such as the condition of schools, roads, electricity, water supply, police station, ASHA and PHC, etc.
According to a statement issued by Joint State Secretary of ZSUM Dijanbou Pamei, the Dimki session unanimously resolved to look into the matter and bring about drastic changes and development at the earliest.
Consequently, the student body inspected the condition of road stretching from Kaiphundai to Tousem and found the road in pathetic condition despite funds drawn from both the state and the Central government for development of the said road.
Primary schools and the lone government high school have also been inspected and found most of the teachers absent.
In the lone government high school, there are only seven teachers for the large number of students in class I to X .
The student body also interacted with the local villagers who revealed that there is no police personnel posted in the police station of the sub-divisional headquarters for the last many years.
Further inquiry also led to the revelation that there is no adequate supply of power and water in the area.
The session also unanimously resolved to elect Mr Achuna to the full-fledged post of co-ordinator of ZSUDT from the post of vice-coordinator.
