Speaking to media persons at Kangpokpi DHQs, NAKYU information secretary Satma Vaiphei, said "considering our demand, the Additional Chief Engineer and the organisations held a meeting on April 10 where the matter was discussed in the presence of the engineers concerned and the officer assured us to sincerely look into our demand and resolve the issue at the earliest," Satma said.
He added that he (Additional Chief Engineer) also requested the organisations to withdraw their proposed indefinite total bandh as he would initiate steps to solve the problem considering the grievances of the local contractors and the local populace.
Taking the assurance of the Additional Chief Engineer into consideration and appeals by CSOs, the organisations have: decided today to suspend the agitation.
"We have also resolved to go ahead with the proposed stir if the Additional Chief En-gineer fails to implement his assurance at the earliest", Satma stated.
