A minute with Nehe, the talented young artiste

It's said that "talent is God's gift to someone", but in the case of 12-year old Yumkhaibam Neha, who is not just a budding artiste but also an all rounder in various performing art forms, the maxim seems to be partly true and partly false.
In a t�te-�-t�te with Hueiyen Lanpao, 12-year old Neha, the only daughter of Y Kame Singh and Y (O) Bem Devi of Moirang Lamkhai, said that since her childhood she was passionate about dance and performing arts, and started giving performances during the annual Lai Haraoba festival of Ebudhou Moirang Thanjing.
Neha gave her first performance when she was 3 years old.
However, her professional career in performing arts and drama embarked on even before completion of her two-year Foundation course in Manipur Dance from the College of Arts and Culture at Moirangkhunou in 2006.Apart from learning Manipuri dance during her stint at the college, Neha also underwent vigorously training in other art forms like Thang-ta, Folk Dance, Classical Manipuri Dance under Guru L Rajen Singh, Guru M Purnima Singh, Guru L Budhichandra Roy and Guru Ngaithem Rajen respectively.
She can also play Meitei Pung, Dhol and Pung Cholom with ease.
When she was around 6 years of age, Neha participated in a dance competition in Orissa and bagged a Merit Scholarship from Government of Orissa (now Odisha) .
Presently, a student of class VII standard in Diligent Public School, Moirang, Neha known for her extraordinary talents and expertise in Dus Avatar, Krishna Vishar, Lai Haraoba, Khamba-Thoibi-Jagoi, Maibi-Jagoi, Kabui Dance, etc.
As a child artist, she played the character role of Ruhidas in the stage play 'Harichandra' produced Panthoibi Thang Ta & Jagoi Sindam Sanglen, Moirang Khunou in 2007 .
Apart from this, she has also featured in the Manipuri feature film 'Nungshibana Yeknahalle' playing the role of Thoi.
The film was produced under the banner of Pural Films Private Limited.
Despite being a young artiste in her early teens, Neha has proved her talents in various art forms at various platforms including 13th All India Classical & Folk Dance Competition in Orissa's Cuttack (2005); Hazaribag Mahotsava at Jharkhand's Hazaribag (2006); Baguihati Mela, Kolkata, West Bengal (2006); Bankura Sanghati Milon Utsav, Kolkata (2007); North East Cultural Festival, Nongstonin, Meghalaya (2007); Indian Dance Festival, Mamallapuram, Tamil Nadu and many more.
She is also a recipient of Cultural Talent Scholarship Scheme-2008 awarded by Ministry of Culture, Govt.of India (Center for Cultural Resources and Training).
Apart from that, she is also the winner of 5th Bishnupur District Thang-ta Competition- 2009, XXth State Level Thang-ta Competition-2009 (Silver Medal), XVI National Thang-ta Championship-2009 (Gold medal), XVII National Thang-ta Championship-2009 (Gold medal), etc.
