Villagers reaffirm stand against quarrying activities

Thoubal, April 26 2024:
A public meeting was convened yesterday at Shi khong Muslim community hall attended by residents of 14 villagers against quarrying activities in Ingourok river, its sources and soil extraction activities in the surrounding hills.
Members of North Eastern Environmental Protection Committee, United Labour Association Ingourok and other organizations also attended the meeting.
A number of resolutions were taken during the meeting.
The attendees reaffirmed the resolutions taken during the meeting on April 18 last and resolved to put a ban on quarrying activities at Ingourok River, Kakmayai River, Chandrakhong-Phanjakhong River and the river sources.
Further it was adopted to prohibit soil extraction activities at the nearby hills by any individuals or associations.
Also, it was decided to dissolve the United Labour Association and support the North Eastern Environmental Protection Committee.
The violators of the above resolutions will be held responsible for any actions against them.
