Imphal, September 23 2026: The Manipur Naga Youth Organisation (MNYO) has expressed deep concern over alleged corruption, financial irregularities and gross mismanagement in the implementation of developmental projects in the hill districts of Manipur.

In a press note, the MNYO said it had come across serious allegations of irregularities, including instances where two or more Government departments were reportedly executing the same work, while funds sanctioned to one department were allegedly withdrawn or misappropriated without any corresponding work being carried out.

The Organisation said such practices constitute a serious breach of public trust and financial misconduct, warranting stringent legal action.

It added that public funds could not be treated as personal property by those entrusted with managing them.

No individual, department or institution should assume that financial irregularities would remain beyond public scrutiny or legal examination, it said.

The MNYO called upon the Government to take immediate and decisive steps to ensure that every rupee sanctioned for the development of the hill districts is utilised for its intended purpose and benefited the people for whom it was allocated.
