Training on skill development programme commences

The inaugural function of a 3-day training on Skill Development Programme to Promote Organic Inputs and Agro based Entrepreneurship was held today at the conference hall of the College of Agriculture (COA), Central Agricultural University (CAU), Iroisemba.
The training programme is being organised by the Multi Technology Testing Centre and Vocational Training Centre, COA, CAU under the sponsorship of the National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management (MANAGE), Hyderabad.
The inaugural function was attended by Dean of COA, CAU, Professor Indira Sarangthem; Professor Kh Ibohal of Entomology Dept, COA, CAU; Scientific Officer of Regional Centre for Organic and Natural Farming Imphal, Dr Jayant Raman and Professor Angad Prasad of Extension Education, COA, CAU as the presidium members.
MANAGE Deputy Director Dr PL Manobari also attended the programme through online mode.
Speaking at the programme, Professor Indira Sarangthem asserted that organic and natural farming are the best measures to safeguard the environment and soil health.
She also highlighted the harmful impacts of extensive use of chemicals on soil.
Therefore she appealed to the farmers to practice natural farming methods to save the environment.
The dignitaries while speaking at the occasion emphasised on the need to promote organic agricultural inputs for the a safer and healthy environment.
They also stressed on the significance of taking up agro-based entrepreneurship for the upliftment of farmers and to promote their produce.
