Sagolband will get durable concrete pavements soon, says MLA

Imphal, October 20 2024: Sagolband AC MLA RK Imo Singh has announced that all major roads in Sagolband will soon be repaired and renovated with rigid pavements, ensuring durable cemented roads and for areas where rigid pavements are not possible, normal black-topping and paver blocks will be done to ensure all localities have improved road conditions.

The MLA made the announcement during the Prize Distribution Ceremony of the 2nd Inter-Sagolband Spot Painting and Drawing Competition, held in celebration of the 14th Foundation Day of Anouba Maiyol Khongchat (AMAKHAK) at the Lainingthou Amudon Community Hall today.

Speaking on the occasion as the chief guest, RK Imo highlighted the significance of co-curricular activities for the holistic development of students, emphasizing the need for active participation from early school days.

He also recalled the importance of the Socially Useful Productive Work (SUPW) subject, which was once a staple in school curriculums but is now often overlooked.

He urged students to engage in extra-curricular activities for their overall growth.

Focusing on the welfare of the constituency, the MLA urged the residents living along the banks of the Nambul River to take responsibility for keeping the riverbanks clean and tidy.

He also addressed the drainage issues from Wahengbam Leikai to Tera and Wahengbam Leikai to Keishampat, assuring the construction of new, covered drains to prevent waste disposal into the open drainage system.

The MLA provided an update on the water supply issues, mentioning that the situation in Wahengbam Leikai, Kangabam Leikai, Salam Leikai, and Meino Leirak has improved.

Furthermore, RK Imo assured that with the commissioning of the water reservoir at Tera and the implementation of AMRUT 2, these water-related problems will be resolved.

The event was attended by Corporator of Ward No 7, RK Jiten Singh, former Member No 1, Chongtham Tombi Singh, and RK Kamajit Singh, president of AMAKHAK among others.
