Condition of Waichong PHC worries inspection team

Tadubi Assembly Constituency MLA N Kayisii sent a team on his behalf to check the Primary Health Centre (PHC) of Tujang Waichong, the only PHC in Twilang area which is located along the Imphal-Tamenglong (IT) road.
The team led by the MLA's PRO and party workers visited the health centre on June 19 as the MLA had an unavoidable engagement.
The visiting team expressed shock to witness the dilapidated condition of the health centre despite being the only PHC in the area covering more than 60 villages.
During a brief meeting with the village chief of Tujang Waichong, Lhunkholen Kipgen, youth leaders, Central Task Force leaders and medical staffers, KSO Twilang block president Enock Kipgen highlighted the problem of acute shortage of staff and lack of infrastructure in the health centre and the need for renovation of the PHC building or construction of a new building.
He also drew the attention of the visiting team to the health centre's urgent need of an ambulance and a generator.
Meanwhile, village chief Lhunkholen Kipgen sought the attention of the department concerned to the requirements of PHC T Waichong so as to enable the health centre to attend to emergency cases.
Twilang area has also been hit hard by the second wave of COVID-19 .
Daily infections were reported from the area a few weeks ago.
Central Task Force of Tujang Waichong and KSO Twilang block have been tirelessly helping and assisting the health workers in containing the pandemic COVID-19 in the area.
The visiting team also distributed various protective kits and medical equipment including two oxygen concentrators, pulse oximeter, PPE Kits and surgical face masks to the health centre.
The team also assured of reporting the matter to the department concerned through the MLA.
