National Space Day observed

Science and Technology Minister Thongam Biswajit has advocated for proper usage of natural resources available in Manipur to accelerate the State's development.
He made the statement while kicking off the National Space Day Celebration, 2024 held at the Seminar Hall of National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) Imphal, Akampat today.
The celebration was jointly organised by the Manipur Science and Technology Council (MASTEC) Imphal, North Eastern Space Application Centre (NESAC), Shillong NIELIT, Imphal.
Speaking as the chief guest, Thongam Biswajit asserted that states like Tripura and Assam have taken advantage of the resources available in their land to move their States in the path of development.
However, in the case of Manipur, despite the availability of resources like minerals, oil and natural gases, we have failed to utilize them, said the Minister.
On another note, he said that the main goal of National Space Day, which is observed across the country on August 23, is to push the interest of Indian youths towards science and space technology and produce skilled scientists.
He also recalled that Raghu Ningthoujam from Manipur was part of the mission which successfully landed Chandrayaan-3's lander and rover on the moon.
The ceremony was also graced by Hungyo Worshang, secretary, Science & Technology; Raghu Ningthoujam, Deputy Director DTDI, ISRO Headquarter; M Somoijit, Head, NESAC GSD; N Debachandra, Director, NIELIT, Imphal and Dr L Minaketan, Director, MASTEC.
