Indian Army inaugurates Skill Development Centre

In a significant step towards Women Empowerment and Community Development, the Indian Army established a Skill Development Centre fortraining in sewing at Leitanpokpi village of Bishnupur district in Manipur.
The facility has been constructed under Operation Sadbhavna.
According to a release issued by the PIB (Defence Wing), the centre was inaugurated on Monday to equip local women with vocational training in tailoring and embroidery, fostering self-reliance and financial independence.
The newly established centre is equipped with 22 electrical and manual sewing and embroidery machines, to provide hands-on training in garment stitching, embroidery and tailoring techniques.
This initiative will enable women to explore self-employment opportunities and establish small businesses.
The inauguration was graced by the villagers, locals and senior Army officers.
The village Pradhan, Anandi, expressed gratitude for the initiative, highlighting its role in opening new avenues for aspiring entrepreneurs and job seekers.
This initiative underscores the Indian Army's unwavering commitment to supporting local communities amid ongoing challenges in the region.
Through such efforts, the Army continues to promote livelihood generation, well-being, and public welfare, said the PIB (Defence Wing) .
