Imphal, July 17 2021: The Covid scourge continues in the state with Saturday registering another record spike, thrice this week, with 1171 new positive cases of Covid-19 out of 6942 samples tested in the last 24 hours, along with 15 fatalities.

A total of 1128 positive cases with a positivity rate of 15.70 per cent and 10 death cases were reported on Friday while Saturday recorded 16.87 per cent positivity rate.

The active caseload has crossed the 10,000-mark for the first time and reached 10,812 on Saturday out of which, 3908 (36.15 per cent) are in home isolation, 4437 (41.04 per cent) in CHICs, 1553 (14.36 per cent) in CCCs and 914 (8.45 per cent) in hospitals.

Out of the total patients admitted to different hospitals, 125 are in ICU/HDU wards while 375 patients are on oxygen support and 44 on ventilator support.

On the other hand, 113 patients are on oxygen support in different CCCs.

As of Friday night, number of patients admitted to different treatment facilities in the state against available bed strengths was RIMS (225/224), JNIMS (237/286), I Land Hospital (31/60), District Covid Facilities (150/347), MSF (21/30), Private Covid Hospitals (230/330) and CCCs (1369/2946) .

The grand total of admitted patients is 2263 and number of beds available is 1961, which include 343 vacant5 beds in hospitals and 1393 in CCCs.

According to official reports, all the 1171 new positive cases (595 male & 576 female) are from among the general population and their samples were tested at RIMS (30), JNIMS (100), District Hospitals (815) and other testing centres (226) .

The positive cases are from Imphal East (255), Imphal West (358), Thoubal (94), Bishnupur (141), Kakching (82), Ukhrul (4), Churachandpur (96), Chandel (42), Senapati (13), Tamenglong (53), Tengnoupal (5), Jiribam (4), Pherzawl (2), Kamjong (1) and Kangpokpi (21).All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.

The State Level Covid-19 Deaths Audit Committee reported 15 Covid-19 deaths (8 male & 7 female) in the last 24 hours.

The district wise fatalities are Imphal West (6), Imphal East (1), Thoubal (1), Bishnupur (2), Kakching (1), Jiribam (1) and Churachandpur (3).Five patients died at Shija Hospitals, four at RIMS, three at DH CCpur, two at JNIMS and one at DH Jiri.

The cumulative number of deaths has reached 1365 .

Five of the 15 victims were below 60 years of age and six did not have any co-morbid conditions.

Five patients died within 24 hours of arriving at hospitals, two within 48 hours and one within 72 hours.

So far, 54,459 positive cases and 991 death cases have been reported during the second wave of the pandemic.

The current month has recorded 14,069 new cases and 215 fatalities out of which 7039 new cases and 107 fatalities were reported in the last seven days only.

In the last 24 hours, 742 patients were discharged from home isolation (302), RIMS (18), JNIMS (13), CCCs (123) and CHICs (286) .

The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 83,859 (general population - 79,922 and CAPF personnel - 3,937).Number of recovered cases is 73,047 (general population - 69,208 and CAPF personnel - 3,839) and number of active cases is 10,812 (general population - 10,719 and CAPF personnel - 93) .

The recovery rate is 87.11 per cent.

In the last 24 hours, 1796 D-type and 315 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities.

District hospitals and government institutions have 452D and 103B filled cylinders and stock distributions made to different districts was Bishnupur (67D,0B), Chandel (31D,9B), Churachandpur (74D,0D), Senapati (44D,0B), Thoubal (112D,34B), Ukhrul (19D,19B), Tamenglong (20D,0B), Jiribam (45D,13B), Moreh (17D,5B), Kamjong (3D,2B), Kangpokpi (3D,0B), Kakching (9D,17B), Pherzawl (6D,2B), Noney (2D,2B) and CCCs (339D,127B) .

On Friday, 27,149 vaccine doses were administered and the cumulative number of vaccinated individuals has reached 9,00,954 including 1,09,401 those who have completed both doses.

As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (28,872), Imphal East (18,484), Thoubal (7043), Churachandpur (6971), Kangpokpi (2042), Tamenglong (2456), Bishnupur (5746), Senapati (1583), Ukhrul (1606), Kakching (4580), Chandel (1435), Noney (665), Tengnoupal (870), Jiribam (849), Kamjong (499) and Pherzawl (158) .

Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (474), Imphal East (338), Thoubal (124), Churachandpur (117), Kangpokpi (39), Tamenglong (11), Bishnupur (116), Senapati (6), Ukhrul (16), Kakching (83), Chandel (20), Noney (3), Tengnoupal (9), Jiribam (6), Kamjong (3), and Pherzawl (0).However, the figure does not match with data released by CMOs of some districts.

Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 27,025 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 22,310 CPM.

Test rate has improved to 3,21,052 tests per million population against the national average of 3,17,069 TPM.

Case fatality rate stands at 1.63 per cent.

In the past 24 hours, 6942 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 16.87 per cent while the cumulative positivity rate rose to 8.42 per cent.
