Imphal, August 16 2021: The Police Department detained and fined 40 individuals for violation of guidelines and restrictions issued by the State Government and the State Disaster Management Authority in connection with COVID-19 pandemic today.

A sum of Rs 7500/- (seven thousand and five hundred only) was also collected as fine from them.

Thoubal had the highest number of SOP violators with 30 while Imphal West, Kakching and Churachandpur had 3 each followed by Imphal East with 1 .

The Police Department warned that those who violate the guidelines and restrictions shall be dealt with strong legal action under National Disaster Management Act, 2005 and other appropriate laws.
