Tribal communities' participation imperative in building united Manipur: Letpao Haokip

Janjatiya Gaurav Divas was celebrated today at the hall of Tribal Research Institute, Manipur as part of the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav celebration.
The event was attended by Letpao Haokip, Minister TA & Hills, Horticulture & Soil Conservation as the chief guest; Dinganglung Gangmei, Chairman, Hill Areas Committee Manipur and MLA of Nungba AC; K Leishiyo, MLA 43-Phungyar AC; Janghemlung Panmei, 53-Tamenglong AC and Hungyo Worshang, Director, TA & Hills and TRI Manipur as the presidium members.
As a part of the event, cultural songs and dance performances were shown to the gathered audience.
Simple gifts were also presented to selected individuals to honour their achievements.
Aside from this, floral tributes were paid at tribal freedom fighter Rani Gaidinliu Park located near Manipur High Court Complex.
Speaking as the chief guest, Letpao Haokip expressed joy at the celebration of Janjatiya Gaurav Divas with the presentation of tribal cultural performances.
Singing praises of brave freedom fighters of the State.
He said that the younger generation should follow their footsteps.
Mentioning Rani Gaidinliu as one of the great tribal freedom fighters and other nameless bravehearts that people are unaware of, he stated that the day should be celebrated to honour and remember them.
The Minister further highlighted the necessity to demarcate district boundaries.
He stated that in cases when one wants to work under a start up policy scheme or set up a shop, a land deed is required.
In this regard he also stressed upon the importance of conducting a survey of hill districts.
Letpao Haokip added that citizens of far flung areas in hill districts might not be aware of this issue but he said that there are no road maps for remote hill areas which poses a lot of problems.
Pointing out the need to issue road maps, he stated that it should be done in the interest of posterity.
He also highlighted the importance of participation of different tribal communities to achieve a united Manipur where people of different communities support each other and different tribal communities are unified.
