'Erup Lupa Thouram' on June 13

Imphal, June 12 2024:
The Koubru Laikha Laipham Kanba Lup (KLLKL) will be organising the "Erup Lupa Thouram (Holy Dip Ritual)" at Sekmai River, Sekmai Laipat area on the seventh day of Manipur lunar month Enga, on June 13, 2024 from 8 am to 1 pm.
According to a release issued by KLLKL, Rajya Sabha MP and titular King of Manipur Leishemba Sanajaoba will grace the occasion along with other dignitaries.
Offering of prayers & obeisance to Lord Koubru and Kounu, Khayom Lakpa and Yaling Thaba Thouram will be the main highlight of the event.
Five Sekmai 'Maibas' will be present during the "Erup Lupa Thouram".
Notably, the "Erup Lupa Thouram" is an annual event for the Meetei and non-Chris-tian aboriginal tribes of Manipur.
Large number of people gather every year for the holy ritual to wash away their sins and live a happy life.
The holy ritual is held every year at Koubru Laikha Laipham area in Kangpokpi district.
However, the venue has been changed to Sekmai River this year due to the prevailing law & order situation of the State.
