International Nurses' Day observed

During the International Nurses' Day function held at Shija Hospitals and Research Institute, V Valte, Joint Director, Nurses Medical Directorate, lauded Shija Hospitals as Manipur's Singapore in terms of medical services and facilities.
V valte was the chief guest of the function while Dr Unmona Boragohain, Principal, Asian Institute for Nursing Education was the guest of honour and Dr Palin, Chairman cum Managing Director of Shija Hospitals was the functional president.
In her speech, V valte opined that today's nurses lack the true qualities of a nurse.
Elaborating the sacrifices of Florence Nightingale, V Valte said that a nurse should have a determination to sacrifice her life for the well-being of patients.
Nurses' roles are vital in order to establish a successful hospital or an institute and create a safe and healthy environment for the patients, she said.
Encouraging the nursing students, she emphasised on the need for proper induction of training and hand practice.
Dr Kh Palin while speaking at the occasion claimed that nursing profession is thriving well in Manipur.
However, one cannot be called a successful nurse if she does not perform her duties with professionalism and dedication, he added.
The International Nurses' Day was also observed at JNIMS Hospital under the theme, 'Nurses: A force for change, a vital resources for health', with Dr M Shyamo Singh, Director, JNIMS, as chief guest; P Landoni Devi, Nursing Superintendent, JNIMS, as guest of honour; Dr H Lokhendra, Head of Department, Microbiology Department, JNIMS, as president.
Dr W Gopimohan Singh, Medical Superintendent, JNIMS, was also present at the function.
Dr M Shyamo while delivering his speech said that the JNIMS staff, who are currently under contract basis and other staff members, who are not absorbed fully would be regularised soon.
He exhorted all the staff and non-staff members of JNIMS to discharge their duties and work collectively for the betterment of the society and institute.
Dr M Shyamo also highlighted the importance of nurses in giving treatment to patients.
Addressing the gathering, P landoni recounted the laurels the nurses of JNIMS had brought in many National level awards ceremonies held in connection with the International Nurses' Day.
