Jiribam, June 09 2024:
Addressing the tense and volatile situation in Jiribam, the All Jiribam Muslim Welfare Society has urged the State Government to take preventive measures to "save the dignity of Jiribam".
A statement issued by Md Faij Ahmed, president, All Jiribam Muslim Welfare Society has stated that the Bengali community of Jiribam strongly condemn the brutal killing of Soibam Saratkumar Singh of Gularthol, Jiribam on June 6 at Phaitol Part II village, Tamenglong district and abduction of one L Thiangmuang of Dibong Khunou, Jiribam by some unknown miscreants.
All Jiribam Muslim Welfare Society lamented that instead of solving the matter legally, another communal tension had been ignited with the burning of houses at Barak Circle and Jiri Circle.
Thus, the Society has urged the District Administration as well as the State Government to find the culprits behind these conspiracies and take strong legal action against them in the larger interest of the Jiribam public.
In addition, the Society has also urged the Peace Committee of Jiribam to look into the matter and resolve the conflict and restore peace and tranquility in the district.
All Jiribam Muslim Welfare Society also addressed the failure of the State Government to provide security to the innocent civilians of Jiribam who are leaving their movable and immovable properties behind and fleeing due to the fear of clashes.
The Society has urged both the Meetei and Kuki communities to restore peace and harmony in Jiribam and the entire State of Manipur.
