Prizes distributed to winners of 47th Kha-Manipur Drama Festival

Kakching, November 08 2024: The prize distribution ceremony of the 47th Kha Manipur Drama Festival 2024 was held today at Langmeidong Dramatic Union hall.

The drama festival was held from October 17 to 28 and was jointly organised by the Manipur State Kala Academy and Langmeidong Dramatic Union.

Marking the highlight of the event, Yumjao Lairembi Cultural & Dramatic Union's Maithongsu Thamoisu and Kodompokpi Dramatic Union's Ashengba Shaktam received the Best Production prize, while Imphal Theatre's Lei Langba bagged the 2nd Best Production prize.

Lastly, Kangla Uchiwa's Aronba Meiri and Ebudhou Maring Performing Arts Centre, Tangkham's Nungshibagidamak secured the 3rd Best Production prize of the festival.

Additionally, K Shyamananda Sharma, director, Maithongsu Thamoisu bagged the Best Director prize while Yumjao Lairembi Cultural & Dramatic Union's Mani Yumnam received Best Scriptwriter prize and Kodompokpi Dramatic Union's Ksh Surjit was bestowed with the Best Music prize.

Altogether, 21 theatre groups participated in the 47th Kha Manipur Drama Festival 2024.The event was graced by Dr Yumnam Radheshyam, MLA, Hiyanglam AC as the chief guest; Sunanda Thokchom, secretary, Manipur State Kala Academy as the functional president and Indrakumar Soibamcha, Theatre Director as the guest of honour.
